AAP leaders made a big claim in the name of Delhi High Court judge, the court strongly reprimanded, know what is the whole matter – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: There was a stir in Delhi politics when the court took a strict stance on the claims made by some Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in the name of a woman judge of the High Court. Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma has expressed deep displeasure, terming these claims as completely misleading and false. The court made it clear that using the name of the judiciary for political gains is extremely worrying.
What is the whole controversy?
Actually, this whole matter started with some posts shared on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). It is alleged that some prominent leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party, citing the name of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma, publicized some such statements on social media, which were not actually part of the court proceedings. When this matter came to the notice of the court, Justice Sharma expressed strong objection to it.
What did the court say?
Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma orally remarked during the hearing that spreading fake news quoting judges on social media is a serious issue. He said that presenting to the public those things which have never been said by the court, in the name of judges, is an attempt to tarnish the image of the justice system. The court also made it clear that such actions hinder the judicial process and can shake public confidence in the judiciary.
Aam Aadmi Party’s troubles increased
This is not the first time that such a situation has arisen between the ruling party and the judiciary in Delhi. However, this time the matter has become legally serious due to the direct use of the name of a High Court judge. According to sources, the court has warned the parties concerned in this case not to distort any court order or comment in future.
Need to monitor social media
This incident has once again raised questions on the authenticity of information on social media. Legal experts believe that political parties should be extremely careful while reporting court proceedings. Spreading false information is not only against morality, but it can also come under the ambit of ‘Contempt of Court’.
