AAP released third list of 15 candidates for BMC elections…know who was given ticket

Mumbai : In Maharashtra, political activities have intensified as soon as the dates of elections of 29 municipal corporations of the state including Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were announced. Elections of BMC, considered the richest municipal body of the country, have always been a matter of prestige for political parties. This time too all the major parties are preparing to enter the field with full force. In this series, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also made its intentions clear to register its presence in Mumbai politics.

Aam Aadmi Party released the third list
Regarding BMC elections, Aam Aadmi Party released its third list of candidates on Sunday, 28 December. Names of 15 candidates are included in this list. With this, the party has announced a total of 51 candidates so far. The party made this list public through social media platforms and claimed that various sections of the society have been represented in it. AAP says that through these candidates it wants to strongly convey the voice of the common citizens of Mumbai to the Municipal Corporation.

trust on grassroots workers
On this occasion, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Preeti Sharma Menon said that in the current political environment, where many parties are still unable to finalize their alliance, AAP has risen above political compulsions and made its grassroots workers and civic heroes candidates. He said that the party has given tickets to such people who have been working for public issues in their respective areas for years and who have direct connection with the common people.

BJP accused of misgovernance
Preeti Sharma Menon also made a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the current situation in Mumbai. He said that the people of Mumbai are troubled by the misgovernance of BJP. Along with this, he also targeted Congress and Shiv Sena and said that the public is also disappointed with the support given by these parties to BJP. According to him, Mumbai and Mumbaikars deserve better governance and Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as an option to give them a clean, transparent and accountable administration.

Decision to contest elections alone
Aam Aadmi Party has already made it clear that it will contest the BMC elections alone and will not form an alliance with any party. Earlier on December 25, the party had released the second list of candidates, which also included 15 names. The party believes that by entering the electoral fray on its own, it can win the trust of the public and establish itself as a strong alternative in Mumbai politics.

Nomination process starts from 23rd December
The nomination process for 29 municipal corporations of the state including BMC has started from December 23. Candidates can file their nominations till 30th December. After this, voting will be held on January 15, while counting of votes will take place on January 16. Strong preparations are being seen among political parties for these elections.

New challenge in Mumbai politics
Aam Aadmi Party’s solo entry in the BMC elections is not only being considered a challenge to the ruling parties, but it also points towards a new equation in Mumbai politics. Now it will be interesting to see how much AAP’s bet on grassroots workers and promise of corruption-free governance can influence Mumbaikars.
