AAP’s big victory in Punjab Assembly, trust motion approved

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday won the confidence motion in the 117-member Punjab Assembly. AAP has the majority with 94 MLAs, while 16 MLAs are from Congress, one MLA is from BSP and three MLAs are from SAD. BJP has two MLAs and one independent MLA.

This confidence vote comes after AAP suffered a political setback on April 24, when seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha members, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Harbhajan Singh, resigned and joined BJP.

Mann said, today all the speculations about those who were saying that 65 or 40 MLAs of AAP are leaving have been put to rest. Earlier in the day, Mann announced a 15 percent increase in the minimum daily wage for those working in both government and non-government sectors on May 1, Labor Day.

Workers received gifts on Labor Day
After the proceedings of the 16th Punjab Legislative Assembly, Mann said, "It is Labor Day, so workers should definitely get gifts. Punjab CM said that this step will provide financial help to lakhs of families. Bhagwant Mann wrote, in this time of inflation, this step of our government will help in providing financial strength to lakhs of families.

During the one-day special session of the Punjab Assembly on Friday, Mann said that this is the first increase in the salary of workers since 2013. Aam Aadmi Party, which has 94 MLAs, got the support of 88 MLAs. Meanwhile, six AAP MLAs did not vote. Two MLAs are in jail, and four were absent.

Government has majority
The Chief Minister said that these days there are a lot of rumors and negative news is spreading rapidly. He said that the rumors of a split in the Aam Aadmi Party are completely baseless and are being spread to create confusion among the public. He said that the purpose of these speculations is only to create confusion among the public and MLAs. Therefore, the government has decided to bring a confidence motion in the House to clear the situation and prove its majority in a democratic manner.
