Mumbai: Actor Aayush Sharma has reportedly joined the cast of Ragini 3, the latest instalment in the popular supernatural thriller franchise headlined by Tamannaah Bhatia.
According to reports, producer Ektaa Kapoor has roped in Aayush Sharma for a pivotal role in the film, which is currently in active pre-production.
The film will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh and also stars Junaid Khan and Nargis Fakhri in important roles.
Tamannaah to headline the supernatural thriller
Reports suggest that Tamannaah’s character in the film will reportedly share romantic storylines with both Aayush Sharma and Junaid Khan.
Meanwhile, Nargis Fakhri is expected to portray a police officer in the upcoming thriller.
Unlike the earlier entries in the Ragini franchise, which were known for combining horror with erotic themes, the new film is said to take a different creative direction.
The makers are reportedly positioning Ragini 3 as a high-concept supernatural thriller with a stronger emphasis on suspense, humour and paranormal elements.
Industry sources indicate that the film is being designed as a “date night horror” entertainer aimed at mainstream audiences.
Film faced delays after directorial change
The project had initially encountered delays after its original director Sahir Raza exited the film due to scheduling conflicts linked to a Netflix series.
The shoot was earlier expected to commence in January 2026. However, production plans were postponed following the directorial transition.
With Shashanka Ghosh now taking over the project, the film has reportedly resumed active development and is expected to go on floors in July 2026.
The makers are reportedly targeting a theatrical release later this year.
Tamannaah’s busy release calendar continues
Tamannaah Bhatia currently has multiple projects lined up for release.
The actress will next be seen opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Vvan: Force of the Forest, backed by Balaji Motion Pictures.
The film is scheduled to hit theatres on August 28, 2026.
Aayush Sharma, meanwhile, continues to expand his filmography with projects across action and thriller genres following his previous appearances in commercial Hindi cinema.
The Ragini franchise, produced under Ektaa Kapoor’s banner, has maintained a loyal audience base over the years and remains one of the notable horror-thriller series in Hindi cinema.
With a fresh cast combination and a new storytelling approach, Ragini 3 is expected to bring a different cinematic experience compared to its predecessors.
