New Delhi: Opposition political parties have been continuously accusing the central government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of vote rigging. Initially, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party targeted the central government and the ECI on issues like vote manipulation. Now, Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has leveled serious allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner and the central government.
Abhishek Banerjee alleged that instead of EVMs, votes are now being stolen in the country by manipulating the voter list through software and algorithms. He didn’t stop there, adding that 10 TMC MPs and senior ministers of the West Bengal government met with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for about two and a half hours. However, the commission could not provide any concrete answers to the questions they raised.
He further alleged that questions were also asked to the commission on November 28, but no answers were given then, nor now. Instead, the information was leaked to select media outlets.
