Abhishek Nayar makes a Special wish for Sarfaraz Khan ahead of day 4 in Bangalore test

Head coach of India, Abhishek Nayar is keen to see Sarfaraz Khan’s phenomenal domestic cricket performance be replicated in international cricket. In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Nayar explained that he wished that Sarfaraz score a triple hundred during the Test match in Bengaluru. This came after Sarfaraz led the fightback for India on day 3 of the test match that had seen them in deep trouble against New Zealand.

Sarfaraz had given a quickfire 70 by the end of Day 3 of the Test match and looked so much at ease in that pitch where India had collapsed for a mere 46 runs in their first innings. After being set a mammoth target of 350 runs, the Indians showed tremendous character to chase down 231 runs in 49 overs they had batted on Day 3. Just before tea, however, Kohli got out which once again raised some concerns for Team India.

Nayar expressed great confidence in Sarfaraz on the eve of Day 4 of the Test match and dubbed him a beast in domestic cricket.

“So I think with that there are expectations that of course we want to see in the future when it comes to him I think no less than three hundred. Well, what do we usually connect with Sarfaraz Khan? Hundreds, double hundreds, triple hundreds. So I am hoping at the end of the day we see the domestic Sarfaraz Khan being the beast in international cricket and get that triple hundred,” said Nayar of Sarfaraz Khan, who was on 70 not out at the close of play on Day 3.

Nayar also showered praise on Kohli’s innings of 70 runs but added that the wicket of the batsman could prove to be very important in the match later.

“It is always good to see Virat Kohli back amongst the runs. Disappointing to be dismissed, you know, towards the last ball of the end of day’s play. Having said that, we are still in a position where we can go for a huge score and in fact try to take this game to the last day,” Abhishek Nayar said regarding Virat Kohli.

Ryan ten Doeschate, India’s second assistant coach, articulated about the fighting spirit of the Indians in the same video. The former Dutch international player opined that India had their chances in this particular contest and that was only because they continued to compete even after that round’s onslaught in their first batting performance.

“Pretty solid day. We fought really hard, and we were really good up until that last ball. It’s probably a big moment in the Test, but what it means is we’ve given ourselves a chance to get back into the game. We’re trying to find solutions no matter what the situation and I think you saw that today. It’s a small margin, but with a deficit of that magnitude, it would have been very easy to say – we have lost. So we are not far away and we definitely do not think that we are out of the game. I think the guys have adopted a never back down demeanor, and that is how we fight it.” Ryan ten Doeschate placed his thoughts on Day 4 of the Test match.

Abhishek Nayar added on the same and voicing that the Indian team its natural instinct to keep fighting which was a huge component of the dressing room ethic.

“Iths like this when so strong walls are built, and there is an Indian inside it, waiting to be unleashed and that attitude resides in the team. That instinctive element of fight when cornered is definitely in us.” Abhishek Nayar about India’s attitude towards fighting said.

“In my opinion, If we can survive the first 15-20 over without losing a wicket then I tint as well as involves looking at us scoring in the range of 300-350 by the end of day and challenging the New Zealanders on the last day. The ideal situation is to put 250 runs on board put New Zealand, Abhishek Nayar concluded.
