New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad once again demonstrated their aggressive game and registered an important win in IPL 2026 by defeating Delhi Capitals by 47 runs. In this match played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the foundation of Hyderabad’s victory was laid by the explosive century innings of Abhishek Sharma and the excellent performance of the bowlers. With this win, Sunrisers reached third place in the points table, while Delhi Capitals had to face another defeat.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, scored a huge score of 242 runs at the loss of only two wickets. The hero of this inning was Abhishek Sharma who scored unbeaten 135 runs on 68 balls. His innings included 10 fours and 10 sixes, due to which he maintained constant pressure on the opposition bowlers. Travis Head played a quick inning of 37 runs, while captain Ishan Kishan added 25 runs. In the end, Heinrich Klaasen also contributed a quick 37 runs, which further strengthened the team’s score.
Delhi Capitals, which set out to chase the huge target of 243 runs, had a mixed start. The partnership of 86 runs for the second wicket between KL Rahul and Nitish Rana definitely raised some hopes, but the continuous fall of wickets put the team under pressure. Nitish Rana played a brilliant inning of 57 runs, while Sameer Rizvi scored 41 and KL Rahul scored 37 runs. After this, the middle order completely disintegrated and Delhi’s innings could reach only 195 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated overs.
Ishan Malinga proved to be the biggest star in bowling for Hyderabad. He broke the back of Delhi’s batting by taking four important wickets. Harsh Dubey also provided excellent support and took three wickets. Apart from this, Saqib Hussain and Dilshan Madushanka took one wicket each. Malinga’s spell, especially in the middle overs, completely turned the match towards Hyderabad, where Delhi’s run rate kept falling.
After this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad has strengthened its position in the points table and the team has now reached third place with eight points. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, remains at fifth position with six points and will have to perform better in the upcoming matches to remain in the race for the playoffs. The match proved to be an example of a balanced team performance for Hyderabad, with both the batting and bowling departments making impressive contributions.
