Attention Do not make these mistakes while using AC in summer, it may cause blast
Delhi A massive fire that broke out in a building in Vivek Vihar area took the lives of 9 people, due to which there is an atmosphere of mourning and panic in the entire area. This painful accident has once again exposed the dangers associated with ACs in summer. Although the exact cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed yet, initial suspicions point towards a short circuit in the air conditioner.
According to media reports, experts believe that incidents of fire or explosion in AC do not happen suddenly, but due to prolonged pressure on the machine, negligence or poor maintenance is responsible for it. Due to excessive heat and continuous use, the AC system goes beyond its safe limits, which can lead to incidents like overheating, short circuit and fire.
What are the reasons for AC explosion?
1. The most important part of the air conditioner is the compressor, which can become extremely hot in summer if it runs continuously. If there is dust accumulated on the condenser coils, the system has to work harder, which increases heat and can damage the machine.
2. Increase in electricity consumption in summer puts additional pressure on old or weak wires. Using a low quality extension board or the wrong socket can cause the wires to overheat, causing sparks and increasing the risk of fire.
3. Gases like R32 and R290 used in modern ACs are flammable. If they leak and come in contact with a spark, a fire or explosion may occur.
4. If the amount of gas is overfilled or moisture or air gets mixed in during servicing, the pressure inside the AC can increase to dangerous levels. Due to this, there is a risk of pipe bursting or system failure.
How to avoid accidents caused by AC?
1. Avoid running the AC continuously for long periods of time
2. Use a timer to take breaks in between
3. If heavy usage, clean filter every 10-15 days
4. Always plug the AC into a strong 16A socket, do not use extension board.
5. Ensure adequate ventilation around the outdoor unit
6. Get professional servicing done before summer starts
