Academy Awards: Vishal Bhardwaj joins Oscar voting panel, 6 Indian film names get big honors
Academy Awards: A proud news has come out for Indian cinema. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 529 new members to join this year’s Oscar voting panel. Six Indian film professionals have also found a place in this list, among which the name of director and music composer Vishal Bhardwaj is most discussed.
Vishal Bhardwaj got special honor
Vishal Bhardwaj is one of the few filmmakers of Indian cinema who has made his mark in all the three fields of direction, writing and music. This time the Academy has sent an invitation to Vishal, famous for films like ‘Omkara’, ‘Haider’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ and ‘Khufiya’, to join the music branch.
These Indians also got invitation
Apart from Vishal Bhardwaj, film editor Deepa Bhatia and A. Shrikar Prasad has also received an invitation from the academy. A. Shrikar Prasad is known for editing films like ‘RRR’, ‘Talwar’, ‘Saathiya’, ‘Shershaah’ and ‘Sky Force’. Deepa Bhatia has been associated with films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Kai Po Che’, ‘Rock On’ and ‘Kedarnath’.
Costume designer and casting director also included
The name of costume designer Eka Lakhani is also included in this list. He has worked in films like ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, ‘Danky’, ‘Queen’ and ‘Sanju’.
Apart from this, casting director Dilip Shankar and Disney animator Avneet Kaur have also been invited for membership of the academy.
When will the next Oscars take place?
The 99th Academy Awards will be held on March 14, 2027. Famous comedian and TV host Conan O’Brien will be seen hosting this prestigious event for the third consecutive time.
