Pune Ring Road: The Pune Ring Road project, which is being built as a long-term solution to the traffic problems of Pune city, is considered to be one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state. The work of this project has been completed for almost a year and especially the work of the western corridor seems to have gained good momentum. Officials said that despite the hilly and difficult terrain, great progress is being made in various construction phases.
Many major infrastructure facilities are being built in this ring road project. It includes 8 twin tunnels, 7 viaducts, more than 10 major bridges, 26 underpasses, 21 overpasses, 9 pedestrian underpasses. After the completion of all these structures, uninterrupted and fast traffic will be possible on the ring road. There are also plans to fence both sides of the road, which will allow for more effective traffic control. Pune Ring Road
Once the Pune Ring Road is started, then the problem of traffic jam for passengers will be solved automatically. If you want to go to say Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur or Bangalore from Mumbai, then you can take a detour without going through Pune city. Due to this, you will not have to face traffic jams in the main city. On the other hand, vehicles in Pune city will be able to breathe freely. Hence, both native Punekar and expat Punekar will benefit from this ring road.
The project (Pune Ring Road) is divided into two parts – 65.45 km long western corridor and 103.155 km long eastern corridor in seven packages. The project has a 4 to 6 lane access controlled highway, which will be completely on a uniform level for hassle-free and comfortable driving.
The western corridor is divided into five packages while the eastern corridor is divided into seven packages. The western package at Urse on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway connects to Shivre on the Pune-Bangalore highway, which provides an alternative route for vehicles traveling from Mumbai to Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Bangalore. . Apart from this, the road is being designed keeping in mind the speed limit of 120 km per hour, which will enable fast and safe travel. Currently Urse to Shivre journey is about 58 km via Pune Bypass. But since this route passes through the city limits, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes due to traffic. Once the ring road is completed, the journey can be reduced by around half an hour.
