Delhi Delhi: Accenture Plc plans to defer promotions for a maximum of its employees by six months, pushing the promotion schedule from December to June.Accenture Plc is considering deferring promotions for a majority of its employees by six months, according to reports. In its latest statement, Accenture Plc said, “We are permanently shifting our primary promotion date from December to June, which is a time when we have a better idea of our clients' plans and demand.”

In an internal blog post last week, the Dublin-based technology giant informed its employees that it will announce most promotions in June, instead of the usual month of December. The company has reportedly deferred promotions for its senior management until June 2024.

Last year, the company had completely skipped salary hikes barring a few exceptions. The company said, “Given the context of our performance, we are considering giving salary hikes this year.” [2023] “We will not provide any stay-at-level (base pay) increases in the U.S. except as may be legally mandated or committed in certain critical skill areas.” Other consulting firms, including McKinsey & Co., Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers, have also adopted a similar strategy to deal with the slowdown. Despite a recent surge in demand for AI and automation-related projects, it has not proven effective in easing the overall economic pressure.
