This 19-year-old uncapped player was included in the team by the franchise by paying a huge amount of Rs 14.20 crore in the auction. But now his back injury has increased the concern of the team management and fans.

The incident occurred during a league match of the PIMS Mewar Cup Season 4 played in Udaipur on 19 February 2026. Sharma was batting in excellent rhythm. He scored 39 runs in just 14 balls and showed aggressive attitude by hitting three consecutive fours. It seemed that he was heading towards playing a big innings, when this unfortunate incident happened on the field. As soon as bowler Vipraj Nigam started taking the run-up to bowl the next ball, Karthik suddenly caught his lower back and fell on the ground in pain. This scene stunned the players and spectators present on the field. The team physio immediately reached the field, but Karthik could not continue batting further and had to retire hurt and return.
