Accused arrested for sharing objectionable photos and videos of women, 47 policemen to interrogate him

MP Bonde claims, some other people may also be involved in this case

Amravati. A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for sharing objectionable pictures and videos of several women and girls online in Maharashtra’s Amravati district. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by Amravati Rural Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand will investigate these allegations. The SIT comprises 11 police officers and 36 constables, headed by an assistant superintendent of police.

Rajya Sabha member Anil Bonde, resident of Amravati, has demanded a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate this matter. Officials said the accused has been identified as Ayaan Ahmed Tanveer Ahmed, a resident of Paratwada in Amravati district. He said he was detained on April 11 after obscene pictures and videos of him with some women and girls surfaced on social media.

Paratwada police said that prima facie, the victims appear to be minors. Police said the accused wooed them, took obscene photographs against their will, made videos and uploaded them on social media to defame the victims.

Police confiscated mobile

Police have seized the mobile phone of the accused and it is being examined to gather evidence. A case has been registered against the accused under section 294 of the Indian Justice Code (sale and distribution of obscene material), relevant section of the POCSO Act and provisions of the Information Technology Act. Police said that none of the victims have contacted the police in this matter.

Appeal to victims to cooperate in police investigation

The police have appealed to the victims and their families to come forward and cooperate in the case and have assured them that their identities will be kept secret. Police said that strict legal action will be taken against the accused. MP Bonde claimed that some other people are also involved in this matter. He claimed that a gang had created Snapchat and WhatsApp groups (for such crimes).
