Accused who gave false threat of bomb in offices and schools arrested, created panic by sending more than 1100 emails

Delhi Police has arrested the accused who was spreading terror by giving false bomb threats in schools, high courts and government offices in many states of the country including Delhi. The accused youth has been arrested from Mysore, Karnataka. The arrested accused has been identified as 47-year-old Srinivas Lewis. Delhi Police arrested him with the help of Karnataka Police. A laptop and several SIM cards have been recovered from the accused, which have been confiscated.

The accused is being brought to Delhi on transit remand.

The police presented the accused in Mysore court, from where he is being brought to Delhi on transit remand. After reaching Delhi, he will be interrogated in detail. The police is also investigating whether the accused did this work alone or an accomplice was also involved in it.

Sent more than 1,100 emails

According to Delhi Police, investigation into the laptop of the accused has revealed that more than 1,100 emails have been sent so far. The police is investigating why the accused sent these emails and what was his motive behind it.

Threat sent to High Court judge also

According to an officer of Delhi Police Special Cell, accused Srinivas Lewis was arrested from a house in Vrindavan Layout, Mysore on Thursday. Investigation revealed that the accused used to send threatening emails and messages from different places to hide his identity. The accused had also sent a threatening email to a judge of Delhi High Court. On the complaint of the judge, a case was registered against an unknown person. After several weeks of technical investigation, Srinivas Lewis was identified. During interrogation, the accused has confessed to sending threatening messages.

Police investigation revealed that Srinivas Lewis is a resident of Bengaluru. He is a post graduate and is currently unemployed. He lives with his mother, who is a retired government employee. The household expenses are covered by mother’s pension only. Preliminary investigation by the police suggests that the accused was suffering from mental stress, due to which he committed this act. Police say that the accused deliberately targeted courts, schools and colleges so that maximum terror could be spread.

Due to these false threats, strict security arrangements had to be made at many places. People had to be evacuated from many institutions and work was also affected. At present the accused was produced in the local court of Mysore and later taken into custody. The police is coordinating with law enforcement agencies of various states to locate all the threatened locations.
