Action on spreading fake videos amid war: Orders for arrest of 35 including 19 Indian citizens in UAE

Dubai, March 15. Amid increasing tension in West Asia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered the arrest of 35 people for spreading misleading and fake videos on social media. These also include 19 Indian citizens.

According to UAE government news agency WAM, an order has been given to arrest all the accused and their cases will be heard soon. UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said that this action was taken while monitoring the social media platform.

The investigation found that some people were spreading fake information and misleading videos on the Internet, which could spread fear and chaos in the country and harm stability. The investigation also revealed that the accused were divided into three different groups and all of them did different types of work.

First group shared original videos

The first group is of 10 people. These people shared real video clips on social media, which showed the missiles passing or intercepting them in UAE airspace. He also made videos of the crowd of people and added such comments and sound effects to it that it seemed as if the country was under attack. Officials say that this could also have revealed information related to security arrangements. This group includes five Indians, one Pakistani, one Nepali, two Filipinos and one Egyptian national.

The second group is of seven people. These people made fake videos with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or spread videos of incidents from other countries by pretending to be from UAE. These videos showed simulated scenes of explosions, missile attacks and flags to mislead people. This group includes five Indians, one Nepali and one Bangladeshi.

The third group is of six people. These people are accused of sharing posts and videos praising the military actions and leaders of a country which is considered against the interests of the UAE. This group includes five Indians and one Pakistani. Apart from this, similar allegations have also been made against two more Indians. Earlier on Saturday, action was also initiated against 10 people.

Not less than one year in prison and a fine of one lakh dirhams

The Attorney General said such crimes could be punishable by a minimum of one year in prison and a fine of up to Dh100,000. According to officials, some of the videos also exploited the emotions of children and falsely portrayed that major attacks or fires were taking place in the UAE. The government says that such misinformation can harm the security and stability of the country.
