According to The StarLiu revealed in a YouTube video that his outlet, Lin Long Fish Ball Shop, located near Jalan Tun Perak, will officially open on Friday.
“Many fish balls sold in the market today contain too much powder, which makes them hard,” said Liu, now 69. “You can make good fish balls using 100% pure fish meat. Just pick fish that are rich in protein.”
Singapore entertainment portal 8days reported that Liu is married to a Malaysian and the couple have a 37-year-old son.
Liu joined Hong Kong broadcaster TVB in 1977 but stepped away from the entertainment industry in the 1990s to pursue business ventures. He has since dabbled in a variety of trades, including operating a karaoke lounge, running a char siu (Cantonese-style barbecued pork) business and engaging in farming.
His transition from actor to entrepreneur was marked by setbacks. After several failed ventures, Liu declared bankruptcy and accumulated debts of about HK$400,000 (US$51,175). He cleared his debts in 2006.
Since his organic farming business in China flourished, he has accumulated an estimated net worth of HK$100 million, according to media reports.
In 2025, Liu drew attention for opening a four-storey restaurant in Kuala Lumpur named Xing Cantonese Cuisine.
