In a video shared on her Weibo account, the 54-year-old actress reflected on how she has become calmer and more resilient with age. She expressed gratitude for the pivotal decisions that shaped her current life.

She emphasized that having experienced two divorces does not equate to failure, but rather shows she was “brave to part ways with someone not meant for her.”

Chung’s first marriage was to Glen Ross in 1998, with whom she shares a daughter, Yasmine. They divorced in 2002.

A year later, she married music producer Jon Yen, and the couple had two daughters together before their 2011 divorce.

Reflecting on her second divorce, Chung recalled how her youngest daughter was barely two years old at the time. The separation led to a difficult and emotionally draining period, as she suffered from the thought that she was not able to provide a stable home for her children.

After the divorce, Chung balanced her film career with raising her three daughters, for whom she had full custody, as a single mother.

In 2016, she married Chinese actor Shawn Zhang, 42. She described Zhang as talented, handsome, and a devoted husband and father. Her two younger daughters have even adopted Zhang’s surname.

Chung expressed happiness with her present life and pride in her daughters, who are thriving in a supportive environment.

Born in Canada to a Chinese-Vietnamese father and a Vietnamese mother, Chung moved to Hong Kong in 1993 to compete in the Miss Chinese International Pageant. Despite not speaking Chinese, she won the competition and then launched her acting career.

Her role in the 1993 film “The Bride with White Hair 2” quickly established her as a prominent figure in Chinese-language cinema. She has since starred in numerous films alongside industry icons like Stephen Chow and Jet Li.
