Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay’s fairytale wedding filled with celebrity guests was overshadowed by a bitter family feud that left the groom’s closest relatives devastated and shut out.
While the couple exchanged vows at Bath Abbey Adam’s mother Caroline sat more than 130 miles away in Staffordshire heartbroken and excluded from what should have been one of the happiest days of her life.
Speaking from the council house where Adam grew up Caroline said she felt completely cut off by her son and his new wife.
“I’m not going to be hurt like this again,” she told the Mail on Sunday.
She added previously that it felt as though Holly and Adam “have cut my heart out.”
Moments after the ceremony Adam reportedly received a blistering message from his aunt Louise who was also not invited to the wedding.
His aunt’s message lays bare the depth of the family’s pain. In the text, sent on his wedding day, Louise wrote in full:
“I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.
“Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.”
Other relatives echoed the anguish. Adam’s 73-year-old great-aunt Janet said she was stunned by the exclusion.
“I just feel so sorry for Caroline,” she said. “I can’t believe he’s done this to his mother who’s done so much for him from an early age. To be treated like this is not kind.”
The rift reportedly began last year when several Peaty family members were left out of Adam and Holly’s engagement party.
Only Adam’s sister Bethany was invited to the wedding, where she served as a bridesmaid a decision some relatives viewed as a deliberate snub.
