Let us tell you, the objective of this partnership is to further strengthen trade relations between India and the European Union (EU). Under this, it is proposed to form IMEC Ports Club, which will lead to better coordination between major ports of India, Middle East and Europe. Through this, connectivity between India and Europe will be boosted, which will be further strengthened by the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called this agreement the ‘mother of all deals’.
This MoU was signed during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India, and is an important step towards further strengthening the India-France Strategic Partnership. IMEC, launched at the 2023 G20 Summit, is a 6,000 km multimodal connectivity initiative connecting India with Europe through sea lanes, rail networks, digital systems and clean energy pathways.

- Technical Exchange in Port Digitalization, Smart Port Platform, Data Interoperability, Cyber Security and Shore Power Supply.
- To develop Mundra-Marseille Fos Green Maritime Corridor.
- Establishment of an IMEC Ports Club, which will institutionalize dialogue between ports and provide input to policy discussions and investment frameworks to support IMEC infrastructure.
