Latest News :- The dues of electricity supply will have to be paid within the prescribed time limit. Otherwise, Adani Power Company has informed Bangladesh that power supply will be stopped. Adani Power's Koda power plant in Jharkhand has an installed capacity of 1,496 MW. Adani Power (724 MW) is the largest supplier of electricity to Bangladesh, followed by Baira (1,244 MW), Rampal (1,234 MW) and SS Power I (1,224 MW).

In such a situation, due to shortage of dollars, Bangladesh is not able to pay the dues of electricity supply to Adani on time. Bangladesh Power Development Board (BBDP) was given a deadline of October 31 to clear the dues and issue a letter of credit (LC) worth $170 million (about Rs 1,500 crore). Although PPDP sought to issue the letter of credit through the Agricultural Bank, it said this was not in line with the terms of the power purchase agreement.

Besides, shortage of dollars is also being cited as a reason for this. Electricity supply to Bangladesh has already been reduced due to the backlog. In such a situation, Adani Power Company has strictly informed Bangladesh that if the outstanding amount of $ 850 million (about Rs 7,200 crore) is not paid by November 7, then the power supply will be completely stopped.
