Adani reviews projects worth over Rs 40,000 crore in Jharkhand and Bihar
Ranchi, 22 February, Chairman of Adani Group Gautam Adani Visited the group’s projects in Jharkhand and Bihar on Sunday. During this, he reviewed major power investments worth over Rs 40,000 crore, underscoring the Group’s growing presence in Eastern India. Adani reviewed the operations of the 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant built with an investment of more than Rs 16,000 crore in the tribal-dominated Godda district of Jharkhand, a company spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the plant supplies power exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement, making the project important. This facility is claimed to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the area and strengthen rail connectivity. In neighboring Bihar, Adani took stock of the progress of the group’s proposed 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical power project at Peerpainti near Bhagalpur. The project involves an investment of over Rs 27,000 crore and is expected to be operational in the next four to five years.
The spokesperson said that the objective of this project is to meet the increasing industrial and urban power demand in the state. The country’s largest private sector thermal power generating company Adani Power (APL) had received the letter of allotment (LOA) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) in August last year for long-term supply of power for 25 years.
