Adar Poonawala showed interest in buying RCB: Said- I am preparing to make a strong bid

New Delhi, 23 January. Before the start of IPL 2026, there is a strong discussion that the honor of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) may change. Amidst these reports, Serum Institute of India CEO and famous industrialist Adar Poonawala has publicly shown interest in buying RCB. “Preparing to make a strong and competitive bid for RCB in the coming months, one of the best teams in the IPL,” Adar Poonawala wrote on social media platform X. There have been discussions about the sale of the franchise after the team became champion in IPL 2025 and the accident that occurred during the celebrations.

There have been reports of the franchise being sold several times in the past, which has been proven wrong so far, but the chances of RCB becoming champion, the team’s fan following and the recent controversies changing the ownership have increased. According to the information, apart from Poonawala, Vijay Kiragandur’s company Homble Films is also considered to be in the race to buy RCB. Homble Films is the producer of superhit films like ‘KGF’ and ‘Kantara’. RCB is the current champion of IPL. After facing disappointment for 17 consecutive years, RCB won the title for the first time in the 18th season (IPL 2025).

RCB, captained by Rajat Patidar, tasted title victory for the first time by defeating Punjab Kings, captained by Shreyas Iyer, in the final. After the title win, on June 4, the team management, players and fans gathered at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate. Nearly three lakh people had reached Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate the victory, which was more than the administration expected. Due to the uncontrolled crowd outside the stadium, a stampede occurred and 11 people lost their lives and more than 50 people were injured. This was a big blow to the team’s image.
