Rumours and contestation around Dhurandhar: The Revenge had gained attention after a viral image of actor Ranveer Singh surfaced online.
Director Aditya Dhar addressed the issue and clarified that the image was not real. He said it was created using artificial intelligence and did not belong to the film.
In a statement, Dhar said, “It has come to my attention that certain individuals are circulating manipulated visuals… to create false and misleading narratives.”
The controversy had started after a group raised concerns over an image that showed off the actor in Sikh attire while smoking. The group had claimed that it hurt religious sentiments and filed a complaint in Mumbai.
Responding to this, Dhar stated that the image was fake and not part of any official content. “This is completely untrue and does not form part of the film or any official material released by us,” he said.
He added that the visuals were deliberately edited to create confusion. “It is a deliberate act of misrepresentation intended to provoke and create mischief,” he stated.
The director also said that he had respect for the Sikh community and ensured that the film handled all portrayals with care.
“I hold the highest respect for the Sikh community… Any attempt to suggest otherwise through doctored content is malicious and dishonest,” he added.
Reports said that a complaint had been submitted at a Mumbai police station regarding the issue. However, no FIR had been registered at the time, and the matter remained under investigation.
Earlier, MP Afzal Ansari criticised the makers over the portrayal of a character believed to be inspired by gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed.
During an interview, Ansari said he had not watched the film but raised concerns about filmmakers using real- life figures for commercial purposes.
“I have not watched that film. The film industry creates stories and uses disclaimers. But they focus on making their film successful and selling tickets,” he stated.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge featured a large cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Sara Arjun.
