Administration surrounded by students’ anger, mental torture and result dispute in IGIMS Nursing College

Patna. The anger of girl students was seen for the second consecutive day in the Nursing College of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) located in the capital Patna. The protest that started on Thursday continued on Friday, where hundreds of girl students were seen sitting on dharna in front of the college gate since morning and shouting slogans regarding their demands.
B.Sc Nursing students have made serious allegations against the college administration like mental harassment, abusive behaviour, biased attitude and irregularities in the examination results. The students participating in the protest said that the agitation will continue until concrete action is taken on their demands.
“An atmosphere of fear instead of studies”
The girl students participating in the protest said that they had come to college with dreams of a better future and nursing education, but here they are constantly facing mental pressure and harassment. The students alleged that they are insulted on small matters and those who protest are put under pressure through results and internal marks.
Many girl students claimed that there is an atmosphere of fear and insecurity both in the college and the hostel. Some girl students also appeared emotional during the demonstration. He said that due to continuous stress, many girl students have reached a state of depression.
Questions raised regarding results
The protesting girl students especially raised questions on the results of some subjects. They allege that despite good performance, many girl students were given less marks and a large number of students were failed. Due to this, dissatisfaction among the girl students continued to increase.
The students say that the examination evaluation process should be completely transparent and the entire matter should be investigated impartially.
Pressure increased due to faculty support
The movement got a new turn when some faculty teachers of the college also came forward in support of the girl students. Teachers also expressed their displeasure over the administrative behavior and said that many times unnecessary pressure is created in the division of work and duty system.
After the support of the faculty members, this matter was not limited to the complaints of the girl students only, but questions were being raised on the overall administrative environment of the college.
Complaints have already been raised
According to the students, this is not the first time that voice has been raised against the college administration. Complaints had been made earlier also, but no concrete action was taken. The students allege that instead of taking the complaints seriously, an attempt was made to suppress them.
Administration formed investigation committee
The college administration has said that an investigation committee will be formed regarding the matter. The students have made it clear that unless concrete action is taken on their demands, the agitation will continue.
At present, this controversy of IGIMS Nursing College remains a topic of discussion in the educational and health institutions of the capital. The girl students demand that they be provided a safe, respectful and stress-free educational environment.
