Afghanistan spinner Allah Ghazanfar, who was recently bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has once again created history in ODI cricket by taking five wickets (5-33). The 18-year-old mystery spinner achieved the feat during the third ODI between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in Harare on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to field first, Afghanistan, led by Ghazanfar and Rashid Khan (3-38), bowled out Zimbabwe for 127 in 30.1 overs. Sean Williams scored the highest score of 60 runs for the host team.
In reply, opening batsman Sediqullah Atal scored a brilliant half-century (52 off 50 balls) as Afghanistan achieved the target and clinched the ODI series in 26.5 overs for the loss of two wickets at the Harare Sports Club.
“It's amazing to see young players like Allah coming into the team and making such a big impact,” Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said after the match. The off-spinner has played 11 ODIs, taking 21 wickets at an average of 13.57. Ghazanfar has already registered two five-wicket hauls in his brief international career. After taking a brilliant five-wicket haul against Zimbabwe on Saturday, Ghazanfar has joined the list of bowlers who have taken a five-wicket haul in ODI cricket before the age of 19.
Overall, only seven players – Waqar Younis (5), Allah Ghazanfar (2), Rashid Khan (2), Aftab Ahmed (1), Gulsan Jha (1), Mujeeb Ur Rehman (1), Wasim Akram (1) Has taken five wickets in ODI cricket before the age of 19.

Afghanistan spinner Allah Ghazanfar will play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 after being bought for Rs 4.8 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
After the auction, Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani said, “We need a lot of convincing to pick specialist foreign spinners. “We really see Allah (Ghazanfar) as a package.”
