Afghanistan to play ODI series with Bangladesh to prepare for ICC Champions Trophy

The Afghanistan cricket team will host a three-match ODI series with Bangladesh in November. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has said that this three-match series to be held from 6 to 11 November will be organized in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy. According to ACB, these matches will be played on 6, 9 and 11 November. The ACB said these three ODIs, three T20Is and two Tests were originally included in Afghanistan's Future Tours Program (FTP) for July-August this year.

Earlier, ACB had postponed the earlier series citing scorching heat in UAE and India. ACB said, both the boards have agreed to play only the ODI phase as it will be important for the preparations of both the teams for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in February next year. Afghanistan recently defeated South Africa 2-1 in the series in Sharjah.

They will tour Zimbabwe in December to play an all-format series. Afghanistan and Bangladesh have faced each other 16 times in ODIs. In which Bangladesh has won 10 matches while Afghanistan has won six times. Afghanistan's last ODI series with Bangladesh was in 2023 when it won the series 2-1 at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
