Afghanistan’s Public Health Minister Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali is visiting India, calls Pakistan the biggest enemy
New Delhi. Afghanistan’s Public Health Minister Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali said on Saturday that India is emerging as an important alternative partner for Afghanistan’s medicine needs. Its relations with Pakistan have deteriorated. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Jalali said that earlier Pakistan had 60-70 percent share of Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical market. But due to recent problems, Kabul has had to look for new options.

Health Minister Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali: Pakistan had 60-70 percent share of Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical supplies market. But now due to recent problems we have found alternative solutions to fill that gap and India is one of them. Emphasizing a pragmatic approach to healthcare, Jalali said political differences should not come in the way of medical cooperation. He said that as Public Health Minister, I have only one enemy and that is disease. If I can defeat my enemy with the help of any country, I will approach for help and assistance. Saying this he also said that Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan have “deteriorated”. Jalali said Afghanistan wants to open a new chapter of cooperation with India, emphasizing the long-standing relations between the two countries and India’s role as a trusted health partner. He said that we have strong relations with India and we have come here to start a new chapter of cooperation and coordination.
