AFI ropes in Klaus Bartonietz to lead javelin throw coaching session
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has unveiled ten specially designed coaching workshops with an aim to improve the standard of coaching in India.
These workshops featuring globally renowned experts will focus on various disciplines and are part of AFI’s broader efforts to raise training standards in the country.
The programme will bring together some of the most acclaimed names in athletics coaching. Klaus Bartonietz, the former coach of Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, will lead sessions on javelin throw techniques, while Don Babbitt will cover other throwing events.
Renowned sprint and hurdles coaches Loren Seagrave and Jonas Dodoo are also set to share their expertise, alongside middle and long-distance training specialists Gunter Lange and Scott Simmons. Additionally, Valeri Obidko will lead sessions on jump techniques.
The workshops will not only focus on specific athletic disciplines but also include discussions on strength and conditioning along with general training methodologies.
According to AFI Secretary Ravinder Chaudhry, the federation has already conducted multiple coaching programs this year and intends to expand these initiatives significantly.
