The air the day after Diwali was the cleanest in Delhi after 10 years, know why

The air of Delhi improved a lot the day after Diwali. The weather was good, so the wind avoided falling into the “severe” category. Despite fireworks, AQI remained “very bad”. Wind speed of 16 km/hr and above normal temperature improved AQI. Due to this, the city had the second cleanest day after Diwali since 2015.

On the day of Diwali, Delhi's air was cleaner than last year. Last year, on the day of Diwali, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 218 points, which reached 358 the next day, but this time it was 328 points, which was 19 points less than last year.

On Diwali, firecrackers were burst in most parts of Delhi, due to which pollution increased. As the day progressed on Friday, the wind speed increased to more than 10 km/h. The air quality index had reached 362 at 9 am on Friday, but due to the increase in wind speed, the breakdown of pollutant particles increased and at 4 pm the air quality index had come down to 339.

The air was the cleanest for the second time

The air quality index on the day after Diwali was the lowest for the second time in the last ten years. Earlier, the index stood at 303 in 2022, which was the lowest in the last ten years, and the index stood at 358 in 2023.

200 mobile anti-smog guns have been deployed in Delhi to control pollution, which were flagged off in a program organized outside the Secretariat on Friday. On this occasion, the Environment Minister congratulated the people of Delhi for not reducing the level of pollution.

The Environment Minister said that due to the efforts of the people of Delhi, the level of pollution has stopped from reaching the serious category on the second day of Diwali, but there is still no need for carelessness.

Delhi government has started a special campaign to prevent pollution from reaching critical levels, in which 200 mobile anti-smog guns have been sent. Water will be sprayed from two mobile anti-smog guns in each assembly constituency, while the rest will be deployed in hotspot areas.
