After 6 years of exile, Fortnite returned to the Play Store! Google brought good news for gamers
The long wait is over. After almost 6 years, the popular ‘Battle Royale’ game Fortnite is back with good news for online gamers in India. This popular battle game from Epic Games is back on the Google Play Store. However, iOS users will not get this benefit right now. Only Android phone users can download this game for now.
Fortnite debuted in 2017. Within a short time it was absorbed into the brains of gamers around the world. But on August 13, 2020, this game was suddenly removed from the Google Play Store. In the background there was a dispute regarding in-app payments or money transactions within the app. Google claimed that Epic Games was violating the Play Store policy by using their own payment system. Epic Games approached Palta Court. After a long legal battle, the US Federal Court ruled in favor of Epic Games in December 2023. Google challenged that ruling, but on July 31, 2025, the court clarified that it is mandatory to have a third-party payment system on the Play Store. This game returned to the Indian market after the legal entanglement.
The size of the new version of Fortnite is kept at 314 MB. The download process has already started. Its latest version ‘Fortnite Showdown’ is a special attraction. Online game lovers can enjoy this series from now. 100 contestants can participate in this multiplayer game simultaneously. It includes thrilling experiences like ‘Third Person Shooting’ and ‘Real Time Mechanic Building’.
The gaming market in India is currently quite large. While games like PUBG (now BGMI) or Free-Fire have dominated the market, the return of Fortnite heralds a new competition. It remains to be seen how popular this game will be in its new form, especially after the historic victory over the payment policy. But for now, it goes without saying that the characters of Fortnite will once again dominate the phones of Android users.
