After all, why is the weather of North India changing again and again? Know the real reason
New Delhi: The way the weather of North India has suddenly changed in the second fortnight of March has surprised people. Where till a few days ago there was a feeling of intense heat, now rain, cold winds and clouds have completely changed the atmosphere. This unexpected change has made it clear that the weather may continue to surprise in the coming days.
At the beginning of the month, the temperature was rising rapidly and it seemed that this time the heat would be more severe soon. But by mid-March the picture completely changed. Rain and strong winds brought down the temperatures in many parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and western Uttar Pradesh. At many places the mercury was recorded about 5 degrees lower than normal, due to which it started feeling cold in March itself.
Western disturbances are becoming active again and again
According to meteorologists, the most important reason behind this change is the continuously active western disturbances. Many weather systems are reaching North India one after the other, causing cloud formation and frequent rains. This is the reason why the weather is not stable and is changing again and again.
Global causes are also playing a big role
However, experts do not consider it limited only to western disturbance. He says that the changes taking place at the global level are also responsible for this. Shifting of the jet stream towards the south is a major reason for this. Usually it flows over the Himalayas, but this time the weather systems are directly entering North India after coming down.
Impact of Mediterranean and Arctic
Increased humidity in the Mediterranean region is also affecting the weather. The sea temperature there is higher than normal, due to which the systems formed have become more powerful. When these systems reach India via Iran and Pakistan, they increase strong winds and rains. Apart from this, the rapidly increasing heat in the Arctic region is also disturbing the weather balance. This is called Arctic Amplification, due to which the balance between cold and warm winds is getting disturbed.
Changing status of La Nina
The situation of La Nina is also gradually moving towards normal (neutral). During this change, instability in the global weather system increases, the effect of which is visible in many areas including India. This is the reason why the weather pattern has become more uncertain than before.
How will the weather be in future?
The Meteorological Department believes that western disturbances may remain active in the coming days also. Two more systems are likely to arrive in the remaining days of March, due to which light rain and strong winds may continue. The same trend may continue in the beginning of April, which is expected to provide relief from the heat wave.
