After becoming Deputy CM, Sunetra Pawar will send son Parth to Rajya Sabha, NCP announced

Maharashtra: A big change is being seen in the politics of Maharashtra. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has decided to leave the Rajya Sabha seat. In his place, his son Parth Pawar will be sent to Rajya Sabha.

Party leader Praful Patel has announced this. Let us tell you, Parth is the son of late leaders Ajit Pawar and Sunetra Pawar. This move seems to be part of carrying forward the family’s political legacy.

Important decision of NCP

NCP has decided to nominate Parth on the Rajya Sabha seat falling vacant after the resignation of Sunetra Pawar. Praful Patel said that Parth is young and will strengthen the party. This announcement has come at a time when there is intense political turmoil in Maharashtra.

Sunetra Pawar is currently the Deputy Chief Minister and is heading the party. He took this responsibility after the death of Ajit Pawar. According to the rules of the Constitution, a person can become Deputy Chief Minister even if he is not an MLA, but it is necessary to become a member of the Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council within six months.

Preparation for Rajya Sabha elections

Elections are to be held on 37 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states across the country on March 16. The tenure of seven MPs from Maharashtra is ending, including NCP founder Sharad Pawar. After the big victory of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the 2024 assembly elections, the alliance is expected to get 6 out of 7 seats here. BJP may get 3 seats, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena may get 2 seats and Sunetra Pawar’s NCP may get 1 seat.

Opposition Mahavikas Aghadi is expecting only 1 seat. There is discussion that the opposition can send Sharad Pawar to Rajya Sabha from this seat. If this happens, Parth Pawar and his grandfather Sharad Pawar can appear together in the Rajya Sabha. This will be an interesting situation for the family.

Sunetra Pawar’s next step

Sunetra Pawar will now contest the by-election from Baramati assembly seat. This seat has become vacant after the death of Ajit Pawar. Party sources said that preparations are going on for this election to be held in the next six months. NCP will also try to get it done unopposed. Baramati’s voter list will be released on March 10, after that the election date can be announced anytime.

Also, Sunetra Pawar can soon be made the national president of NCP. This decision is being taken to keep the party united and strengthen it in Maharashtra politics. Overall, this step is a sign of bringing forward the new generation of NCP.
