After Chinese robot controversy, Galgotias University out of AI Summit, all equipment removed from the stall –
Tezzbuzz Desk- Galgotias University got embroiled in controversies during the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026 in the capital Delhi. It was decided to remove a Chinese robotic dog from the AI Summit after it was accused of passing off a Chinese robotic dog displayed at a university stall as its own. According to IT Ministry officials, instructions were issued to Galgotias University to vacate the counter and all equipment and innovation devices on display were removed from its stall.
However, the university’s Dr Aishwarya Srivastava said that they have not yet received any official notice to leave the summit and they will be present at the exhibition for the next two days. He clarified that the university never claimed that the robotic dog was their own creation.
The controversy was sparked by a viral video on social media, which claimed that Galgotias University Unitree Go2 Showcased an AI-powered Chinese robotic dog named “Orion”. After this video, many users alleged that the university presented imported technology as its own product developed in the country.
On this the university clarified that the robotic dog Unitree It was purchased from the company and is being used as a learning tool for students. “This is not just for show, but our students are experimenting with it and testing its capabilities. We clarify that Galgotias has not created this robotic dog and has never claimed so,” the university said in a statement posted on X.
There was also political reaction to the controversy. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said, “Instead of leveraging India’s talent and data, the AI summit is a haphazard PR spectacle. Indian data is not being leveraged and foreign products are being showcased.”
This entire incident has once again highlighted the need for transparency and focus on educational objectives in AI and tech exhibitions. Galgotias University’s clarification makes it clear that their aim was to provide a learning and research platform for students and not to claim any foreign technology.
