After destroying Iran’s highest bridge, Trump threatened – ‘A lot is still to happen’
Washington, April 3. The US Army has attacked an important highway bridge in Iran, which further increased the tension between the two countries. At the same time, US President Donald Trump has appealed for a compromise with Iran with a warning. He said Iran must compromise or “there could be further actions.” The attack took place on the B1 bridge, which connects Tehran to the nearby city of Karaj. According to a US Army official, this bridge was a fixed route to transport goods for Iran’s missile and drone army, so it was targeted.
At the same time, Iran’s government media said that this bridge was not yet operational and the army was not using it. According to officials, at least eight people were killed and several injured in the attack, including civilians who were out on the occasion of Nowruz. Donald Trump praised the attack in a post on social media. He wrote, “Iran’s largest bridge has been demolished, it will never be used again. There are many more to come!”
He also warned Iran to “make a deal before it is too late.” American officials said that this action is part of a larger plan to weaken Iran’s military system. Its purpose was to stop the movement of missile and drone related items within the country. Iran’s leaders reacted strongly to this. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf said, “When it comes to the defense of the country, every one of us will become a soldier.” He also said that the people of Iran are ready and standing firm. Tehran has currently refused to negotiate with America. A Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that “talks are not possible in the current circumstances.”
Along with this attack, attacks took place at other places also. According to Iranian officials, one of the air strikes targeted the Pasteur Institute of Iran, a large public health center. A Health Ministry spokesperson described it as a “direct attack on international health security.” This conflict now seems to be spreading across the region. Israel said it intercepted missiles fired from Iran. At the same time, Yemen’s Houthi rebels also fired missiles towards Israel. There is no improvement in the situation even at the diplomatic level. Russia, China and France blocked a UN Security Council resolution authorizing the use of force to open the Strait of Hormuz.
