Actor Sonu Mishra has distanced himself from the controversial film ‘Black Deer: The Battle for Legacy’. He claims that he backed out of this project aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the senior actor. His comment has come at a time when Salman Khan is fighting a legal battle in the Delhi High Court to stop the shooting, promotion and release of the film.
Why did you leave the film?
Speaking to ANI, Sonu Mishra said that he initially thought that the film would present a story in favor of Salman Khan. However, after understanding the direction of the project, he changed his mind. The actor said,
‘I had to play the character of Salman Khan. When I came to know that this film was made to tarnish the name of a superstar and the reputation of the culture of Rajasthan, my morality did not allow me to be a part of the propaganda against a senior actor. After creative differences with the filmmakers, I decided to distance myself from the film.
Sonu Mishra also claimed that the filmmakers never showed him the script. On the ongoing speculations regarding alleged threats, he said that there is no question of receiving threats from the Bishnoi community, because it is their own community. He said that films highlighting the contribution of this community to the society would be more meaningful and further said that legal disputes should now be left to the judiciary.

Salman Khan has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for an interim injunction against ‘Blackbuck: The Battle for Legacy’. Her legal team argues that the filmmakers are commercially exploiting her identity without her consent, thereby violating her personality and publicity rights and damaging her reputation.
