After T20 World Cup 2026, Michael Clarke labels Indian star the ‘best one-day player’ he’s seen

Michael Clarke has made a big statement on Virat Kohli after India’s win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. He said that the young Indian players have gained experience by playing with big names in the team and the IPL. He feels that playing under pressure in IPL and in front of huge crowds has also worked in favour of the cricketers.

He added that the Indian team has always been good in the fifty-over format and Virat Kohli is the best player in ODIs.

“Some of the young Indian players are sharing the dressing rooms with greats of the game and have competed in front of the jam-packed stadiums. They already know about the pressure situation they are going to encounter in the final of the World Cup. India have been brilliant in the ODIs and Virat Kohli is their leader. He is the best player I have ever seen in the fifty-over format,” Clarke said on the ‘Beyond23 Cricket Podcast’.

In 311 ODIs, Virat has amassed 14797 runs at an average of 58.71, including 54 centuries.

Clarke also lauded Jasprit Bumrah, who has been magnificent across formats in international cricket.

“Bumrah can trouble the batters with the new ball and in the death overs. It is not easy to take five-wicket hauls in any format. He bowls at 145 kmph with the new ball and gets the batters out. He has got the best yorker. Bumrah bowls a perfect slow ball and knows how to take wickets,” he added.

Bumrah took 4 wickets for 15 runs in the final against the Kiwis and was named the Player of the Match. Overall, he picked up 14 wickets in 8 matches.
