After the death of Ali Larijani and Sulemani, Iran went out of control and bombarded Israel and Gulf countries with missiles and drones.

Tehran: The Israeli army has launched a major attack by targeting two prominent security faces of Iran. One of these was Ali Larijani, who was the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and was considered one of the country’s most influential leaders. The second was General Gholamreza Soleimani, who was the commander of the Basij militia of the Revolutionary Guards. The death of both has also been confirmed by Iranian officials. The killings are a deep blow to Iran’s regime, especially since Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei died on the first day of the war. Both these officers played an important role in suppressing the large-scale protests in Iran.

barrage of missiles and drones

Iran has been enraged by this attack. In return, it launched large-scale missile and drone attacks on Israel and the Gulf countries. Explosions were heard in areas around Tel Aviv, while two deaths were reported in the Ramat Gan area. The air defense systems of the Gulf countries foiled most of the attacks, but in Dubai too, sounds of explosions were heard due to debris falling from the interceptors. Iranian attacks on Israel have so far resulted in dozens of deaths and thousands of injuries.

Iran’s insistence on Strait of Hormuz continues

Amidst the war, Iran has clearly announced that it will not give up its hold on the Strait of Hormuz. It is the most important sea route for global oil trade. Iran also attacked some ships, which has severely affected shipping traffic. As a result, international oil prices have risen sharply and fears of a global energy crisis have increased. US President Donald Trump sought help from NATO and other allied countries to protect this waterway, but many countries refused to cooperate. Trump later said that America does not need anyone, it will handle it alone.

Report of attack on Bushehr nuclear plant

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), citing reports from Iran, said that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Complex was attacked by a projectile. However, according to the IAEA, no one was hurt and there was no major damage to the plant. The agency’s head, Rafael Grossi, reiterated his call for both sides to exercise “maximum restraint to prevent the risk of a nuclear accident.”

The sequence of deaths continues

Israel claims that its attacks are aimed at weakening Iran’s regime. More than 14 people in Israel have been killed and more than 2300 injured in Iranian attacks. At least 13 soldiers of the American Army have also been martyred in this conflict. According to the Iranian Red Crescent and other sources, there have been more than 1,300 deaths in Iran since the war began on February 28, although some independent reports put the figure much higher. Israel continues attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

Death of Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani confirmed

Iran officially confirmed early Wednesday that its top security official and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, has been killed. The council secretariat issued a statement early Wednesday local time announcing Larijani’s death. In this statement, he has been called a “martyr”, describing him as a person who served the public all his life.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz had said that Larijani had been killed in its attack, but Iran did not react or confirm this. According to the Iran Council, several others were killed along with Mr. Larijani, including his son and security personnel. The statement praised Larijani’s long political career, calling him someone who worked for Iran’s progress and solidarity against external threats until the last moments of his life. Earlier on Tuesday, Iran had also confirmed the killing of Ghulamreza Sulemani, the chief of its paramilitary force ‘Basij’. Iran has described it as “a terrorist attack carried out by the American-Zionist enemy”. According to Iran’s semi-official news agency Mehr, the funerals of both Larijani and Soleimani will be held on Wednesday.

According to Iran’s news agency Fars, President Massoud Pejeshkian expressed “deep sorrow and regret” over Larijani’s death. He said that he saw nothing but benevolence, insight, companionship and foresight in him and undoubtedly this loss is very difficult to compensate.

The war has now entered its third week and regional instability is increasing.
