Railways wakes up after Mumbai accident, ban on giving platform tickets at all stations of Delhi till Chhath

After 10 people were injured at Mumbai's Bandra Terminus when they tried to board an unreserved train bound for Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur, Delhi railways has temporarily banned platform tickets at major stations to ease the rush of passengers. The sale has been banned.

Raj Shekhawat, who had a reward of Rs 1 crore 11 lakh 11 thousand and Rs 111 on Lawrence Bishnoi, made another big announcement.

Northern Railway said that in view of the large number of passengers going home on Diwali and Chhath Puja, platform tickets will not be available at New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar and Delhi Sarai Rohilla stations till November 6.

Till November 6, platform tickets will also not be available at Ghaziabad Junction Railway Station. Northern Railway said that elderly, illiterate and female passengers have been exempted from this ban.

Northern Railway “anticipating high number of passengers during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals, imposed special crowd management control measures at New Delhi Railway Station and Anand Vihar till November 7”

A holding area has been created at New Delhi station (towards Ajmeri Gate) and Anand Vihar station. It has additional ticket counters, automatic ticket vending machines, inquiry counters, “Can I help you” desks, catering, drinking water and mobile toilets.

Direct entry from Delhi Metro Skywalk to the foot overbridge connecting the two stations has been temporarily closed by Delhi Railway Division.

Railways said that passengers are requested to reach the station at least 1 hour before the scheduled departure of the train to avoid last minute crowd and for smooth boarding.

“Follow the signage posted in the circulating area towards Ajmeri Gate. Assistance is available at 'Can I Help You' counters or from railway staff deployed throughout the area to facilitate comfortable travel. “We urge passengers to follow these temporary measures and thank them for their cooperation.”

Till when will platform tickets not be sold in Mumbai?

There are some different rules for Mumbai. Central Railway said that the ban on sale of platform tickets at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Kurla LTT, Thane, Kalyan, Pune and Nagpur stations will come into effect with immediate effect.
