Varun Chakraborty stakes claim for Champions Trophy, single-handedly eliminated half the team in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Sports Desk: Varun Chakraborty, famous as India's mystery spinner, is currently playing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Where he surprised everyone by bowling amazingly in the pre-quarterfinals. He reduced Rajasthan's innings to just 267 runs. At one time the Rajasthan team was moving towards a big score but the team faltered badly in front of Chakraborty's mystery spin. After which he has staked claim for the Champions Trophy.
Varun Chakraborty single-handedly eliminated half the Rajasthan team in the pre-quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This right-arm spinner took 5 wickets for just 52 runs. With his excellent bowling, Varun has further strengthened his claim to play the Champions Trophy.
In this match, Rajasthan had at one time scored 184 runs for one wicket, but after this the magic of Varun Chakraborty worked. He stopped Rajasthan from progressing by taking 5 wickets and the team could not even play its full 50 overs. Rajasthan opener Abhijeet Tomar scored 111 runs and captain Mahipal Lomror scored 60 runs. Both of them made a partnership of 160 runs for the second wicket. Varun broke this partnership and after this Rajasthan completely fell apart.
These five wickets can prove to be very important for Varun Chakraborty because there are reports that this player can be selected in the Champions Trophy team. A meeting of the Indian team selectors and Gambhir-Rohit is going to be held on January 11 in which the team can be selected for the ODI, T20 series against England as well as the Champions Trophy. Varun Chakraborty may be selected in this. He has taken the maximum number of 18 wickets so far in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Now it remains to be seen whether the selectors bet on him or not.

Talking about Varun Chakraborty's career, he has taken 19 wickets in 13 T20 matches for Team India but he has not made his ODI debut yet. This right-arm mystery spinner can do wonders in this format as well. Chakraborty has so far taken 59 wickets in 23 List A matches, out of which he has taken five wickets in four matches. It is clear that this performance of Varun strengthens his claim in the Champions Trophy.
