After US-Iran deal, ships start leaving Hormuz…. Long queues formed, PGSA implemented strict rules

Tehran. After the deal between America and Iran (US-Iran Deal), now ships have started leaving Hormuz. However, there were so many ships in the queue that a jam-like situation had arisen on this strategic sea route. The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has implemented some strict rules to allow ships to pass through Hormuz without any inconvenience. Under these rules, transit request will have to be submitted by the ship at least 48 hours in advance. Even after this, the ship should remain in constant contact with the authority. If there is any mistake in this, the responsibility will be on the ship owner. PGSA offers the facility to submit transit requests through its website.

Why is Hormuz so important?

Let us tell you that Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It was closed for normal traffic since March after the US attack. Very few ships were allowed to pass through here. Even after this, the danger of attack on ships remained. About 80 percent of oil and gas from Gulf countries is exported through this waterway. This route is very important for China, India, Japan and South Korea. India has also been importing about 40 percent of its total crude oil requirement through this route.

  • According to PGSA, complete information about the journey, route, contact and ship will have to be given in the transit application. Only after this will it be allowed to pass through Hormju. The authority has said that ships should send their requests before reaching Hormuz. PGSA said this procedure has been implemented to ensure safe movement of ships and to avoid any kind of accident. Let us tell you that during the war, mines were also laid in Hormju. Therefore, ships cannot be allowed to pass through accident prone areas.

No charges will be levied for 60 days

According to the agreement, Iran will not charge any fee for passing the ships for 60 days. To ensure smooth movement of merchant ships through the strait, no fees related to security and environment will be charged. All maintenance related expenses will be borne by the Government of Iran.

At least 25 ships passed through Hormus on Thursday. Whereas in the month of April only 7 to 8 ships were able to pass through Hormuz. After the American attack, the movement of ships from Hormuz had reduced drastically. Let us tell you that a day before, i.e. from Friday, peace talks between America and Iran were to start in Switzerland. By then the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah started increasing and Israel carried out an airstrike in Lebanon. After this, Friday’s talks were postponed and Vice President JD Vance also canceled his visit to Switzerland.
