Again NTA is in the circle of questions! Rahul Gandhi said on NEET admit card controversy – such a system has no right to conduct the examination.
New Delhi, June 20. A case of serious administrative lapse has come to light regarding the NEET UG re-exam from Nagpur, which has raised questions on the examination system and the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA). In the admit card issued for the NEET UG re-exam to be held in one shift across the country on June 21, it has come to light that the examination center of a student from Nagpur has been shown as Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). The name of the student is said to be Abdullah Mohammad Talib. When the student downloaded his admit card, he and his family were surprised to see the mention of an examination center located abroad instead of India.
According to family members, he neither has a passport nor any arrangement or resources to go abroad and take the exam. Due to this an atmosphere of anxiety and tension was created in the family. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi raised questions on the examination system while mentioning this incident on social media platform ‘X’. He said that a student, who was preparing for the exam for the last one month, came to know at the last moment that his exam center was abroad. Due to this he came under deep mental pressure.
Rahul Gandhi wrote, “No passport, no money for the family to send abroad and no time left. He kept crying all night and is refusing to take the exam. Can this stress even be imagined? How did this happen? No student should complain of not being able to reach the center tomorrow. NTA is actually just testing the patience of the children of the country and their parents. The system which cannot give a child an examination center in his own city and on the contrary can send him abroad. He has no right to conduct the examination.”
He further wrote, “This is what I said in Kota that this is no longer an education system. It has become the extortion of money, time and mental peace of an entire generation. Stop gambling with the future of our children. They deserve a sensitive, responsible and accountable education system and we will get it for them.” At the same time, Punjab Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Vading also reacted on the social media platform ‘X’.
He wrote, “The news is that a student from Nagpur has found a NEET re-test center in Abu Dhabi and NTA is calling it a technical glitch. For the student, this is not a glitch. This is years of hard work, stress, uncertainty and a career hanging in the balance. Indian students deserve a professional examination system, not a system that makes excuses after every controversy. Accountability cannot be left to ‘technical glitches’.”
After the matter came to light, NTA has accepted it calling it a technical error. The agency says that this mistake happened due to a glitch in the system and it will be fixed soon. NTA has assured the student’s family that the revised admit card will be released soon, which will mention the correct examination centre. Besides, an email has also been sent to the family by the agency, in which it has been said that the error will be rectified by the evening.
