Making a radical change in the rules of Delhi Police recruitment, the Home Ministry has announced bumper relaxation and reservation for former firefighters. Now Agniveers will not only get priority in jobs, but have also been exempted from the most difficult stage of the recruitment process, the ‘Physical Test’. After the official notification issued on Friday, necessary amendments have been made in the Delhi Police (Appointment and Recruitment) Rules, 1980. ‘Direct’ freedom from 20% quota and physical test. According to the notification issued by the Home Ministry, 20 percent of the total posts of Constable (Executive) in Delhi Police will now be reserved for former firefighters. The most shocking and relieving news is that these candidates will not be required to give Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Generally, running and other physical efficiency tests are considered the most difficult in Delhi Police recruitment, but these soldiers who have 4 years of experience in the armed forces have been exempted from it. However, it will be mandatory for them to fulfill the prescribed physical measurement and medical standards. Huge relaxation in age limit: Youth up to 30 years will be able to be recruited. After the amendment in the recruitment rules, the age limit has also been relaxed. Generally, the age limit for Delhi Police Constable is 18 to 25 years, but former Agniveers will get an additional relaxation of 3 years. Special gift for the first batch: Candidates of the first batch of Agniveer Yojana have been given an additional relaxation of 5 years, which means that they will be able to join Delhi Police till the age of 30 years. Other batches: The maximum age limit for the remaining batch of former Agniveers is 28 years. (25+3) will remain. LG’s decision approved: Major change in recruitment process. This notification was issued by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V.K. It formalizes Saxena’s proposal, which he had already approved. Till now, 100 percent direct recruitment was done for the posts of constable in Delhi Police, but now a large part of Agniveer will be included in it. The Police Commissioner will soon issue detailed guidelines for the conduct of written examination and other recruitment processes. This is part of the broader scheme of the Central Government, under which Agniveers who have completed 4 years of service in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force are being accommodated in various security forces. After this formal change in Delhi Police, similar major changes can be seen in the police and central paramilitary forces (CAPFs) of other states also. This step will not only provide experienced personnel to Delhi Police, but will also increase the attraction towards Agniveer Scheme among the youth.
