Agreed on not having nuclear weapons… Trump said amid West Asia war, made big claim about Iran
Washington. US President Donald Trump claimed victory in the war in Middle East, saying Iran has agreed never to possess nuclear weapons and has sent an “important gift” related to the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump claimed that Iran is willing to “make a deal” and indicated that US Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are leading the talks.
The President said that major changes have already taken place in Iran’s current leadership. “This is actually what we can call a change of regime,” he said. You know this is a change of power because the people in power now are completely different from the people we started with and who created all those problems.
Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while sharing a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday, had said that his country is ready to mediate “meaningful and decisive talks” to end the war between America and Iran. A few hours later, Trump shared Sharif’s post on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’.
“I don’t want to say this in advance, but they have agreed that they will never possess nuclear weapons,” Trump told reporters after the swearing-in ceremony of Markway Mullin as the new Interior Secretary. Trump said the Iranian leadership has given the US an “important gift” related to the Strait of Hormuz and oil supplies. The US President said, “They are going to compromise.” He did something yesterday which was really surprising. He gave us a gift and that gift arrived today. That is a huge gift whose price is very high.
He said, “I won’t tell you what that gift is, but it is a very big gift.” Trump said, “So the only thing that means to me is that we are talking to the right people.” No, this (gift) is not related to nuclear weapons. It is related to oil and gas.” The US President insisted that the war against Iran has been won. “We won this,” Trump said. This war has been won… It’s not like we’re winning a war where they don’t have a navy and they don’t have an air force and they don’t have anything. Our planes are actually flying over Tehran and other parts of the country. They can’t do anything about it.”
He said that America completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear capability which could have been used against America’s allies in West Asia. “We destroyed it,” Trump said. Completely destroyed their nuclear capability. If we had not attacked (using B-2 bombers), they would have had nuclear weapons two weeks after that attack. “They certainly would have used it and they would have used it throughout the Middle East, including Israel.”
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that never in history has any modern army been destroyed so rapidly and so completely. “Iran had a modern military,” Hegseth said. It had a modern navy, modern air force, modern air defense system, leadership, huge bunker. Never before in history has any modern army been destroyed so rapidly and in such a historic manner, never before has one been defeated with overwhelming firepower on the first day.
