AI, GenAI the next big game changer- NTT Exec
Tokyo Tokyo: A senior executive of Japan's NTT has said that Artificial Intelligence and GenAI are going to be a big “game changer” for society. He further said that this technology, which is attracting huge investments and global attention, will prove to be “ubiquitous and influential” in the times to come. Sean Lawrence, vice president and head of the IOWN development office at NTT, said AI is being used more widely than many people realize.
“We may not always even know that we're interacting with AI, but I think it's really going to be the next big game changer in terms of technology for society,” he said. Lawrence said AI will be powerful and ubiquitous. “…AI is really going to be very impactful to society. I think we're already using it for a lot of people more than we realize, but over the last few years AI “With the maturity of generative AI, and you can see where it's going with the amount of investment and focus on it, it's going to be quite ubiquitous,” he said. Tokyo-headquartered NTT has developed a technology that significantly reduces the time required for data transfer between data centers, increasing efficiency in the process. During its 2024 R&D Forum, it showcased the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN), a visionary platform designed to transform communications infrastructure. It leverages photonic technology to deliver ultra-high capacity, ultra-low latency and ultra-low power consumption, paving the way for the future of connectivity, and enabling faster and more reliable data transmission.
