AI traffic cameras will be installed in 4 cities of Bihar, e-challan will be generated automatically

Patna. Bihar’s traffic system is now going to enter a new era with the help of technology. Preparations for installation of Adaptive Artificial Intelligence (AI) based traffic cameras have been completed in four smart cities of the state, Patna, Biharsharif, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur.

This proposal has been sent to the Transport Department by the Police Headquarters and the survey work has also been completed. Once approval is received, the installation process will be started. Officials claim that this initiative will not only make enforcement of traffic rules stricter, but will also reduce the problem of traffic jams to a great extent.

How will Adaptive AI system work?

This system will be different from traditional CCTV. Normal cameras just record, while AI cameras will analyze real-time data. In the direction where the number of vehicles is more, the signal duration will automatically increase. The signal will change sooner in the direction with less traffic. This will reduce unnecessary blockage and traffic flow will remain smooth.

Immediate action on 14 types of violations

AI cameras will not be limited to just surveillance. As soon as the rules are broken, an e-challan will be issued automatically. These include: not wearing a helmet, not wearing seat belt, driving while talking on mobile, driving on the wrong side, triple riding and other major traffic violations. This will reduce human interference and increase transparency.

Expectation of reduction in accidents

According to ADG Traffic, AI based monitoring can reduce road accidents by about 25 percent. Also, there is a possibility of improvement in fine collection by 50 percent. If this project is successful, we may see major changes in the traffic system of Bihar.
