Kerala Blasters allege racism in Bengaluru FC game, AIFF orders probe

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has referred allegations of racial abuse during an Indian Super League (ISL) match to its Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.

The development follows a formal complaint by Kerala Blasters FC, who alleged that their defender Fallou Ndiaye was subjected to racist chants during their match against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Videos of the alleged incident have circulated widely on social media, prompting responses from both clubs and the federation. Ndiaye, a Senegal international, was reportedly targeted during the game, which Kerala Blasters won after a second-half comeback.

In an official statement, the AIFF reiterated its stance against discrimination, stating that it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards racism. “The complaints have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee, an independent judicial body, for examination as per the AIFF Disciplinary Code,” the federation said, adding that it would refrain from further comment while proceedings are ongoing.

Clubs condemn incident

Kerala Blasters strongly condemned the incident, calling it “appalling” and confirming that the matter has been raised with ISL and AIFF authorities. The club stated that it would pursue appropriate action to protect its player.

Bengaluru FC also issued a statement acknowledging the circulating video and condemned the behaviour. The club said it is working with relevant authorities to identify those responsible and take necessary action.

The incident has once again brought attention to issues of fan behaviour and discrimination in Indian football, with stakeholders calling for stricter enforcement and accountability.

The AIFF’s Disciplinary Committee is expected to review the evidence and determine the next course of action in line with its regulations.
