AIIMS study report reveals: Sudden death of youth is not related to Covid vaccination
New Delhi. Is there any connection between vaccination against Coronavirus and sudden deaths among youth? An autopsy-based study by Delhi AIIMS has found no scientific connection between COVID-19 vaccination and sudden deaths of youth. This study reiterates the claim that the corona vaccine is safe. It said that sudden death among adults is a serious concern, which requires targeted public health policies. Coronary artery disease remains the leading cause, while respiratory and unexplained deaths warrant further investigation.
This study has been published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research. It looked at cases of sudden death in adults aged 18–45 years over a one-year period, including oral autopsy, post-mortem imaging, conventional autopsy, and histopathological examination. This work was done by a team of forensic experts, pathologists, radiologists and clinicians. The study found no statistical association between COVID-19 vaccination status and sudden deaths in the younger population. Cardiovascular factors remained the most common cause of death among youth. Respiratory causes and other non-cardiac conditions were then responsible.
What came out in the research
The disease history and vaccination status of COVID-19 were found to be almost similar in both youth (18-45 years) and adults (46-65 years). No direct link was found between vaccination and deaths. These results match scientific studies from around the world, which show the Covid vaccine to be completely safe and effective. The study took place in the departments of Pathology and Forensic Medicine of AIIMS Delhi from May 2023 to April 2024. Of the total 2,214 corpses, 180 cases were considered sudden deaths.
Cases of accident, suicide, murder or drugs were excluded. In every case the family of the deceased was talked to. His chronic illness, Covid history, vaccine, cigarette-alcohol habits etc. were noted. Each autopsy took place within 48 hours of death. AIIMS Professor Dr. Sudhir Arawa said that this study is very important amidst false claims. Doctors say that sudden deaths of youth are mostly due to hidden heart diseases. Therefore, early diagnosis, good lifestyle and timely treatment are necessary.
