In response to a written question to the Rajya Sabha, he said that the Bihar government has offered 151.17 acres of land near Ekmi Shobhan Bypass in Bahadurpur, Darbhanga in April 2023.

The Union Health Minister said that earlier, the state government had approved the transfer of land in November 2021 for the establishment of AIIMS in the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital campus. The Union Health Minister said that the Central Team (Technical) of experts from IIT-Delhi has found the alternative site for setting up of AIIMS to be viable, but due to site-specific conditions, structural modifications are required based on geotechnical and hydrological investigations. Bihar government handed over the land – JP Nadda

IIT Delhi is engaged for topographic survey, hydrological investigation, geotechnical investigation and revision of structural design drawings.

The AIIMS to be built in Darbhanga, Bihar will have 750 beds. It will have a teaching block and residential campus for medical and nursing courses. Along with this, there will also be facilities and services related to it. It will be spread over 187 acres. In the first phase, AIIMS building will be constructed in an area of ​​more than 2.25 lakh square meters. The work of construction of the second AIIMS to be built in Darbhanga, Bihar has been tendered to Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation, a subsidiary of National Building Construction Corporation.
