Air India announces management changes ahead of merger with Vistara

New Delhi New Delhi: Ahead of the merger of Air India and Vistara to take place on November 12, Air India Group on Friday announced several changes in the management. Vistara Chief Executive Officer Vinod Kannan, who is also holding the role of Chief Integration Officer for the merging of full-service airlines, will continue in the role of Chief Integration Officer after the merger. He will be a member of the Management Committee and will report directly to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson. Deepak Rajawat, chief commercial officer, Vistara, will take over the role of chief financial officer at the newly-expanded Air India Express and report to CEO Alok Singh.

He will also support Group CFO Sanjay Sharma in strategic initiatives and projects. As a result, Vikas Aggarwal, the current CFO of Air India Express, will move to a new role at Air India. Vistara Senior Vice President Flight Operations Captain Hamish Maxwell has taken over the role of advisor to Air India Express CEO Alok Singh, while Air India Express Chief Operating Officer Captain Pushpinder Singh has returned to flying. Captain Singh's successor will be announced at the appropriate time.

Deepa Chadha and Vinod Bhatt, Senior Vice President Human Resources and Corporate Affairs and Chief Information Officer of Vistara respectively, will take up senior positions in other Tata Group companies, while Mr Niyant Maru, CFO of Vistara, who will be joining on his retirement date to complete the merger. Still holding office, will retire at the end of his current term. All other CXO positions and reporting line positions in the Air India Group will remain unchanged.

Announcing the changes, Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson said: “Over the past two years the four Tata airlines have worked hard to prepare and execute one of the most complex mergers in aviation history, delivering dramatic growth and broad In terms of the transition from four airlines to two, we are now approaching the end of that process, with all four erstwhile airlines taking the next step in their journey. It is a pleasure to meet with colleagues and formalize a group leadership.”
