Amid peak travel season, Air India has announced cancellations of over 60 flights on popular routes between India and the US. The airline cited delayed aircraft returns from maintenance and ongoing supply chain constraints as reasons for the cancellations, which impact travel plans from mid-November through December 2024. The cancellations affect multiple routes, including Delhi-Chicago, Delhi-San Francisco, Delhi-Washington, and Mumbai-New York.

Options for Affected Passengers

To accommodate passengers impacted by these cancellations, Air India is providing several options:

  • Free Date Change: Affected travelers may change their travel dates at no additional cost.
  • Rebooking on Partner Airlines: Some passengers may be rebooked on Air India’s partner airlines on the same or adjacent days.
  • Full Refund: Passengers who prefer not to reschedule can request a full refund.

In its statement, Air India explained that “delayed return of some aircraft from heavy maintenance and supply chain constraints” necessitated a temporary reduction in its operating fleet. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience and assured passengers that all efforts are being made to address these limitations.
